MEET CLASSIFICATION: This meet is open to all USA Swimming athletes and clubs.
MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as timed-finals. The 1650 will be swum fast-to-slow, alternating heats of women and men.
SCRATCH PROCEDURES: Coaches will receive a scratch sheet for each session of the meet in their information packets listing all of their swimmers and events for each session. Coaches must indicate all scratches on these sheets and submit their scratch sheets to the computer table within one half hour after the start of warm-up.
FACILITY: The New Canaan YMCA Valles Pool is a 6 -lane, 25-yard pool with a depth of 13 feet at the starting end and offers Colorado timing with a six lane display. Continuous warm-up warm-down is available through out the meet, and ample seating is available for spectators on the observation deck.
DISABLED ACCESS: Access to the observation deck is by stairway only. The pool deck is at ground floor level. Please contact the meet director if athletes, coaches or spectators require special assistance. There is available handicapped parking at the YMCA.
SESSION TIMES: Friday (all swimmers) – 4:00pm warm-up, 5:15pm start.
Saturday and Sunday (13-14 and 10 and Under swimmers) – 7:00am warm-up, 8:15am start.
Saturday and Sunday (11-12 and 15 and Over swimmers) – 12:30pm warm-up, 1:45pm start.
WARM-UPS: CT Swimming Warm-Up Procedures will be in effect. .
ELIGIBILITY: All athletes must be current athlete members of USA Swimming. Age on the first day of the meet shall determine the swimmer’s age and age group for the meet. Any swimmer who is entered and is unregistered, will be scratched from the meet until registration is completed. All coaches must present a valid USA Swimming coach card to the Meet Director prior to the commencement of any sanctioned swim meet, and must have this card with them while on deck.
ADAPTED SWIMMING:Any current athlete members of USA Swimming with a disability as defined by USA Swimming Rules and Regulations may enter this meet. If modifications to USA Swimming rules are necessary then the coach or athlete must notify the meet referee of any disability prior to competition.
EVENT INFORMATION: The 1650 will be swum fastest to slowest and will alternate heats of women and men.
ENTRY LIMITATIONS: Swimmers may swim a maximum of 4 events per day/ 8 per meet. Please indicate the 4th event to scratch in the event of over-subscription.
ENTRY TIMES: Submit entry times in SCY. No Time entries are discouraged.
DEADLINES: Entry deadline is January, 14th, 2008. Mail hardcopy and payment to the entry chairperson: Kristin Faig, 564 South Ave, New Canaan, CT, 06840. All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration. Entries will be received on a first come first serve basis.

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to the entry chair at
. Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file. A check or proof of a check request must be submitted by the entry deadline (January 14th, 2008) for your entry to be officially accepted.
ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $5.00 for individual events, $5.00 for distance event, $10.00 for relays. Manual entries: $5.50 for individual events, $5.50 for distance events, $10.50 for relays. No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry

CUT PROTOCOL for DISTANCE EVENTS: The session will be limited to four hours and forty-five minutes. Entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Once the meet reaches the time limit all entries after that will not be accepted.
CUT PROTOCOL for QUALIFIERS: If a session is over-subscribed first 7/Us, followed by relays, and then all fourth events will be cut. If the time line estimate still exceeds four hours teams will be cut based on date of receipt. Clubs will be notified of cuts no later than Monday before the meet.
RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES: The meet referee reserves the right to make any adjustments to the provisions of the meet announcement that are deemed necessary to ensure the fair and efficient running of the meet, with prior approval from Program Operations. Clubs will be notified of cuts no later than Monday before the meet.
RELAYS: there are no relay limitations. All relay swimmers must be officially entered in the meet.
- Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes. There will be no diving in the warm-up and warm-down areas at any time
- No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
- No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
- Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach. If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up. The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
- No electronic devices with cameras are permitted in the locker rooms.
RULES: Current USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.
TIME TRIALS: No Time trials will be offered
TIMERS, OFFICIALS OR WORK ASSIGNMENTS: All teams will be required to provide timers in proportion to the size of their entry. Timer assignments will be emailed to all teams prior to the meet. It is the responsibility of each team representative or coach to make sure that their timers report for the timers’ meeting and remain in place through out the session. If timers need to be relieved, it is their team’s responsibility to provide a replacement. Swimmers will need to provide their own timers and counters for the 1650 freestyle on Friday night.
DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff actively participating in the meet are permitted on the pool deck.
SCORING: The meet will not be scored.
AWARDS: Ribbons will be awarded to the top 12 finishers in each individual event, and top 3 team finishers in each relay event. Coaches or a team representative should pick up the athlete awards prior to leaving on Sunday. Teams that fail to pick up their team awards will be required to pay shipping and handling fees in order to have their awards sent via the mail.
HOSPITALITY FOR COACHES AND OFFICIALS: Yes.
PARKING: A section of the YMCA parking lot will be reserved for swim meet patrons. The lot will hold 50 cars. Once the lot is full all additional parking will be at either The Saxe Middle School, The New Canaan High School or the Church of Later Day Saints. There will be no parking permitted on South Ave as well as Putnam or Surray Rds.
DIRECTIONS: The New Canaan YMCA is located at 564 South Ave, New Canaan, CT 06840. Take exit 37 off the merit parkway (north or southbound). Make a left off the exit ramp. The YMCA is located approximately 1/3 of a mile up on the right.
